This is a Triceratops Beetle, Phileurus truncatus.  I actually found it crawling around inside the house a week or two ago.  They are attracted to lights and it was late at night, so I am guessing it found its way inside somehow.  Because it was so late, I put it in my bug-catching jar with a nibble of cake until the next day when I let it go and took a few pictures.

So if anyone is wondering, Triceratops Beetles can survive on cake and icing for at least a day or two.

This is an adult female Black and Yellow Garden Spider, or Argiope aurantia.  You have probably seen some of these at some point as they are quite common through North and Central America.  There are several of them outside behind the house.  This one is eating a small insect.

This is a fly I saw yesterday.  It was on the top of the trashcan and it did not move even when I was only a few inches away.

Just a random dandelion in the yard.  I was testing out my new lens, Canon's EF 50mm f/1.8 II.  I got it for $80 (it's normally $90) from Calumet Photo and it is definitely worth it.

These are some decorative egg shells at the State Fair last year.  They are covered in wax and dyed to create the patterns.

Some very yummy strawberries with chocolate.  This was at a wedding I attended over the summer.
