Color in a Greyscale World

Color in a Greyscale World

A pink rose at the State Fair.  The background in this photo was mostly green and white, so it looks like this after simply desaturating all the colors except for red and magenta.

In the Gimp, this is done by going to Colors -> Hue/Saturation, selecting the individual colors and moving the saturation scale to zero.

Spiky Leaf

Spiky Leaf

This is a big, spiked leaf at the State Fair.  I have no idea what plant it is from, but it looks neat.  This was at night and the leaf was lit from below.

Pink Flower

Pink Flower

One of the many beautiful flowers in the garden area at the fair.

Strawberry

Strawberry

This is another one of the first photos I took.  It is from a strawberry-picking trip we went on two years ago, I think.

More Zinnias

More Zinnias

Some zinnias at the Farmers Market.

Pecans

Pecans

Some of the pecans on the tree in our yard.

Clover Close-Up

Clover Close-Up

Just a clover in the yard.

Density of a Leaf

Density of a Leaf

Okay, so it's not an x-ray image or anything like that, but it looks cool.  It's actually just a photo of a leaf.  I increased the brightness and contrast, changed the levels and curves, and inverted the color values.  Nothing special, but it looks neat.  I guess it would be like a density map of the leaf, if anything.

Spiral Vine

Spiral Vine

This is a close-up of a morning glory vine.  I took this the same day I took the morning glory photo.

Dandelion

Dandelion

Just a random dandelion in the yard.  I was testing out my new lens, Canon's EF 50mm f/1.8 II.  I got it for $80 (it's normally $90) from Calumet Photo and it is definitely worth it.
