Queen Bee Eyes

Queen Bee Eyes

For this photo, I used my 105mm macro lens with the 18-55mm attached to it reversed.  I played around with a few different setups, and this seemed to work the best without any special mounting rings (which I do not have).  I will write a little more about the technique later.

This is an extreme close up of a queen bee's head.  Unfortunately, the only light I could use was from a small lamp.  And the bee is not alive, it is one that was shipped here and died a few days later.  You can clearly see the compound eyes on the right and one of the three simple eyes in the top left.  I also posted another view of the bee here.
